The Death of Man
by Samuel Clingman
Written February 13, 2008

We are dead,
For we are men,
and men are doomed to die.

By Adam’s sin
We fell from heaven
and lost sweet paradise.

Man will shake his fist towards the heavens,
and spit upon the earth.
But is it Heaven’s fault that we are now,
sons of hatred and of dearth?

For we have sinned,
and blasphemed God,
and have become the living dead.

But must we die forever?
Must we bear the chains of slavery?
Must we toil under the Demon’s whip?
Or Struggle beneath the load of Mockery?

No, we need not do this.
For though man be dead,
he can live again…
For God so loved this world,
that he gave His only son,
that any who believed in him,
should never die again,
but live in heaven with Him.

Amen.
